New Publisher Interface
In October we released the public beta of our long-awaited new Publisher User Interface. Thanks again to those who participated in the early beta tests and for everyone's constructive feedback since the launch. During the first part of January we'll be sending you a survey link with specific questions about what features you use most, what you like most about the UI and what we can do to continue improving upon it in 2010. We look forward to your feedback, and as always don't hesitate to contact us if you identify any issues before then. Read the press release here.
ACTION REQUIRED: NAI Compliance |
|
This year ValueClick Media became a member of the Network Advertising Initiative ("NAI"), a cooperative of online marketing and analytics companies committed to building consumer awareness and establishing responsible business and data management practices and standards. More information about the NAI and its 2008 NAI Principles can be found at http://www.networkadvertising.org.
As part of our membership in the NAI, ValueClick Media has updated its Publisher Terms & Conditions, which require you to adhere to the 2008 NAI Principles. You will need to ensure that you comply with your obligations set forth in the 2008 NAI Principles, including without limitation, revising your web site(s)' privacy policy(ies) to include, without limitation, the following:
- A statement of the fact that online behavioral advertising ("OBA") and/or multi-site advertising is occurring;
- A description of types of data that are collected for OBA and/or multi-site advertising purposes on each of your websites by you and any third parties;
- An explanation of how, and for what purpose, that data will be used or transferred to third parties; and
- A conspicuous link to the OBA choice mechanism (e.g., opt-out link) provided by the NAI member, and/or a conspicuous link to the opt-out page on the NAI's consumer website.
We are currently doing audits on sites within our network to ensure NAI compliance on all of our publisher sites. Therefore, if you have not already done so, update your privacy policy to meet the NAI minimum requirements. This will help us avoid having to put any non-compliant accounts on hold. If you have questions about the NAI or to check if you are already complaint, please contact us directly at support@valueclick.com.

In each issue of The Pub, we interview a different member of the ValueClick Media team.
Name: Victoria Zahn
Role: Vertical Development Rep
How long have you been with ValueClick Media?
I joined ValueClick in Q3 of this year. I'm thrilled to be a part of the team!
When working with publishers, how do you help them monetize their available inventory?
Listening to the needs and strategies of each publisher is my first priority. Open communication and a focus on customer service are consistent themes in my relationships with publishers, as I want to make sure the publisher is fulfilling their goal in partnering with ValueClick Media.
What do you think helps lead to success for a publisher when working with a network?
With the changing economy, the industry has become more ROI driven than ever. In building trusted partnerships with agencies, ValueClick presents itself as the first contact of several agencies and advertisers in charge of planning campaigns. I find that the most successful publishers I work with are those who keep open communication with me so I am always aware of the publisher's site updates and business goals. Knowing this information helps me to better align the most suitable campaigns with the publisher.
What's the most important advice you can give publishers relative to inventory monetization?
Within ValueClick Media, the most important factor in inventory monetization is flexibility and open mindedness with your campaign selections. This will provide the publisher with the greatest amount of fill, essentially allowing for additional revenue.
What is one interesting thing about you that most people don't already know?
My family is from a little island in the Mediterranean called Malta. The country has unique cultural influences since it was taken over by so many different nationalities through history. For example, the national language is Malteseāa language similar to Arabic in origin, but Malta is a part of the European Union and more Catholic than Rome. Rarely do I run into another Maltese person to whom I'm not related!
